  • We came here for lunch on a Friday at around 2pm. It was busy at first, but the lunch rush quickly finished and we had the place to ourselves. I ordered the Caveman breakfast. The food was good and the portions were decent. My wife ordered the eggs Benny. There was some confusion with the order, but it got resolved. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a 50s diner. A lot of memorabilia. Overall, a good option if you're in Gibsons.

  • We arrived here around 11:30 on a Monday morning in the summer, and the place was bumpin' ... lively, fun atmosphere. Staff (all women) were friendly, attentive and efficient. The food is made with quality ingredients and you can tell everyone in the place cares. The avocado BLT and the crab cake benny were both delicious. Prices were fair, the washrooms clean and spacious. I would highly recommend and will be returning for sure. Also, when a bunch of restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesdays in Gibson's, they're always there.

  • We arrived just before opening on a rainy, fall Saturday. The line up was down the road alongside the patio. The gate opened and the restaurant filled up. Sadly, we didn't make it in on the first seating. But it was worth the wait. Tables flipped well after the first wave. Good service and a fine selection of brunch. I'll go back for that crab cake Benny!

  • It’s a long wait to get a table here, but the food is worth it. I ordered their current special, a Korean bbq chicken Benny. It was honestly one of the best breakfasts I’d ever had! The eggs were poached perfectly, the chicken was saucy and the hollandaise was delicious. Even the hash browns were cooked perfectly. The only improvement that could be made was the wait time to be offered refills on coffee/drinks for our table, but the servers were very busy so it’s understandable.

  • We had an amazing breakfast experience! My wife ordered the Coast Life Egg Benny, and she absolutely loved it, the perfect balance of flavors with fresh ingredients. I went with the classic breakfast and added French toast, which was incredible! I’m always worried when I order French Toast as I don’t like it soggy and mushy, but this French Toast was light, fluffy, and perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made for a cozy start to our day.

  • They don't take resos here but you can put your name down then come back later! Although I wish they would call you when your table is ready. Super cool retro looking restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch! We waited about 20 mins or so for a table of three on a Sunday at 11am. The portions here are huge and the menu is also really big! Tons of food to choose from. I ended up getting the salmon omelette and it was healthy but tasty. I loved the addition of yams! My boyfriend had one of the skillsets and it was very flavourful. Food and our coffees and teas came out really fast. Would recommend!

  • Decided to try out The Mad Hen on a busy weekday after a friend recommended them. Service was odd as they didn't offer the option of sitting outdoors. At least the food came out quickly (15 min). Ask for their hot sauce. - Beachcomber's omelette ($20.00) - large portion. Omelette could have been silkier but good filling. Toast was heavy on the butter - Jenny's crazy-good crab cake bowl ($23.00) - crab cake was tasty. Enjoyed the avocado and grilled vegetables, pickled zucchini & red onion was delightful
